Top 3 Design Trends for Fall Wedding Invitations

Fall is one of the leading choices for brides as they plan their weddings. And with the recent wedding boom, the prime months of August-October are getting booked QUICK. Brides, if you're currently dreaming of a fall wedding, our best advice would be to book your top vendors now. We know from experience, my friends.

With fall weddings come fall themed décor and of course, your wedding invitations. Whether you’re looking for something simple, elegant, rustic or artsy, there’s just something about fall inspiration that makes an invite pop.

Planning a fall wedding? Check out our top 3 design trends for fall wedding invites!

1. Autumn Colors

When we think of fall, our heads go immediately to the changing colors of leaves and the coziness of the weather changing. Just picture it: a rustic winery full of reds, blushes and creams or a ballroom decorated in shades of blue and gold. No matter what fall colors you decide, fall weddings always sound like a dream.

Top fall wedding color schemes:

  • Burgundy, Navy and Blush

  • Dark Teal and Orange

  • Dusty Rose and Sage

  • Navy and Rust

Metallics are also always popular in the fall. But using metallics in your wedding invitation? Amazing. Pulling in a metallic copper, gold or (hello) rose gold, will add some beautiful fall warmth to your invite! The metallic also gives the invitation a shimmer and gleam that is super glitzy and eye catching. This trend is perfect for the bride that wants an elegant wedding full of sparkle and glam.

A great way to use a metallic is as an accent for words or illustrations. Can you imagine having you and your future Mr/Mrs names shimmering off the page? Beautiful. And for our bolder brides, take it to the next level and have a full metallic invite with white lettering!

2. Florals & Nature

Incorporating florals and nature into your wedding invitation is always a trending addition, no matter the season. Depending on your style, a selection of watercolor florals, hand drawn greenery or an artistic interpretation of your favorite flowers are always beautiful. As wedding invite designers, we have seen a boom with the use of digitally painted florals with the rustic colors that fall brings to the table.

Filling iffy on the florals? Don't think of the use of florals as being the center of attention. The main focus of your invites is the joining of you and your soulmate. The elements surrounding your names are just there to bring your love story to life. As a designer, we work with you to bring your personality to life in your invite.

3. Hand Lettering

Our third and final top trend for fall wedding invitations is hand lettering. Which, also ties back into the rustic vibe that fall tends to give off. If you're having your wedding outside, at a winery, in a barn or even a rustic modern ballroom, hand lettering can make a beautiful addition to your wedding invites - and decor!

Pro Tip: Work with a calligrapher! They will be able to bring your personality through in the lettering so your invites are as unique as your love story!

A great way to use hand lettering for your wedding invitations is for your names and the titles of any inserts you may be using. This way, the hand lettering is minimal and focused on the important elements of your invite.

Wedding Invitations

It's no surprise that we love a fall wedding. From the colors to the florals and of course the hand lettering, tiny details can make for a beautiful wedding invitation.

Pro Tip: Start working with a designer on your invite kit 6-9 months from your special day. This gives you plenty of time to see your dream wedding invitations come to life and to have them printed and mailed to your guests!
